One holisitc definition of healing is the integration of body, mind and spirit. Another is the acceptance of things as they are while, at the same time, trying to make them better.
Participating in art is healing because it can provide you with a less stressful way to react to a painful or confusing experience. True understanding rarely presents itself through the mind, because judgments and fears always come into play. Only the voice of the heart, conveyed through your inner language of imagery - color, shape, texture and symbol - can offer a more healing, loving and peaceful way to respond to fear, anxiety, pain, inner conflict and loss.
Art-making that focuses on process can help release the stress-producing hold that emotion has, not only on your body, but on your mind, emotions and spirit, as well. When you make an image from the heart, you receive an inner message that tells you how to deal with and heal your most painful emotions.
Elizabeth will act as a guide, helping you to facilitate this transformation.
